Project Overview

Re-building/re-surfacing highways and roadways is a common and costly issue that every state DOT deals with on a daily basis. Water seepage below the surface can degrade the subbase and subgrade, which ultimately leads to driving problems and/or structural failures of the road. To prevent these issues from happening a roadway edge drainage system is commonly installed to help water move alongside the roadway and prevent it from entering into the road bed.

AWD manufactures the SITEDRAIN Strip Drain to ensure that any water is moved quickly and efficiently, to prevent any sub-surface drainage issues from occurring. The Strip Drain is preferred to traditional pipe and stone systems, due to it’s larger open area and the ability of water to enter into the system and drain away from the roadway. Using application specific machinery, the Strip Drain, can be installed much quicker than traditional pipe and stone systems, saving the contractor, and ultimately the DOT time and money.

The SITEDRAIN Strip 9412 was specified by MS DOT and installed by Simmons Erosion Control, with an AWD representative on-site. The product was sold through CMC Construction out of Baton Rouge, LA.
