Iowa Department of Transportation - IA 58 / Viking rd interchange project

Project Overview

This is the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Iowa 58 (IA 58) and Viking Road Interchange Construction Project. The project includes converting the current intersection from an “at grade” one to a “grade separated” interchange. Viking Road will cross over IA 58. The interchange will become a single point interchange. That means the entrance and exit ramps for IA 58 will meet Viking Road at a single point controlled by a traffic signal. The IA DOT and Peterson Contractors have constructed a Soldier pile retaining wall to help during construction

Construction Materials out of Cedar Rapids, IA worked with AWD to find a solution for drainage along the Solider pile wall. AWD recommended SITEDRAIN P-186-W/6 along with SITEDRAIN 184 sheet drain for this project. Close to 7,000 LF of SITEDRAIN sheet drain will be used for this project. Also AWD's Universal Tee Outlets will be install to help with end drainage.

This has been a 2 year project with plans to be completed in November 2019.
