pavement rehabilitation i-40 - buncombe county, nc

Project Overview

In early 2019 the Department of Transportation in North Carolina determined that the westbound lane of I-40 just south of the City of Asheville needed to be rehabilitated.
Cracks and potholes had appeared in the pavement, which are caused by subsurface water flowing beneath the roadway washing away the roadbed below the pavement.

The SITEDRAIN Strip Drain 9412-T was trenched in alongside the roadway, while they were repaving, which provided a channel for water to flow alongside and exit away from the roadway via our tee outlet fitting and outfall pipes.
AWD was consulted by NCDOT (designer) and RES (installer) to ensure the material and installation was done according to both the designer and manufacturer’s requirements. The material was sold through GETSCO out of Middlesex, NC.
