Synthetic Turf Drainage Solutions

Project Overview

The City of Ruston decided to develop a 185-acre, state-of-the-art sports complex to provide quality recreation opportunities for Louisiana residents, as well as those in surrounding states. 16 of the baseball fields called for pipe & stone subsurface drainage systems beneath the synthetic turf surfacing. AWD helped Womack & Sons reduce the overall cost of the system and ease of installation by value engineering in the SITEDRAIN Strip Drain 9400-T, in lieu of the pipe & stone system.

SITEDRAIN Strip Drain can be laid flat underneath a synthetic turf surfacing, which allows the contractor to forgo digging large trenches, pouring stone backfill, and re-grading the site, which is typically done in traditional pipe & stone systems. AWD helped the contractor by providing re-designed drawings, estimating take-offs, as well as providing/meeting flow calculations in order to meet the requirements of the designer. AWD’s Southeastern Sales Manager was even on site for the first field being installed to ensure the installation was done to the project and product requirements.

The project was sold through CMC Construction Services out of Alexandria, LA.
